# How to give ChatGPT and Dots a phone number, text and email in New Zealand **Short answer:** You give ChatGPT a New Zealand 028 phone number, two-way SMS and an @agentline.nz email inbox by adding Agentline NZ as a custom MCP server on the web: go to Plugins, select +, choose Add custom MCP server and enter https://agentline.nz/mcp with OAuth. Your Dots can use the same connection once you turn it on in the Dot's Customize โ†’ Plugins. OpenAI gives full access, including sending texts and email, to Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, while Pro accounts can connect custom MCP servers for reading only. ## Before you start - An Agentline NZ account. Start free with an email inbox (no card), or take a 7-day trial of Starter or Pro to get a number. - Your 028 number is set up within a few days of signup. Your email inbox works straight away. - ChatGPT on the web. OpenAI says custom MCP servers can't be added on mobile. - A plan that can add custom MCP servers. In OpenAI's current help article, Business, Enterprise and Edu get full MCP including write actions such as sending, and Pro can connect custom servers with read/fetch permissions. OpenAI's pricing page lists Developer mode (beta) for Plus and Pro. - In a Business workspace, only admins and owners can create and publish custom plugins. On Enterprise and Edu, admins can let other members create them. ## Steps 1. **Open Plugins in ChatGPT.** Sign in to ChatGPT on the web and go to Plugins. You don't need to turn on Developer Mode first in the current Plugins experience. 2. **Add a custom MCP server.** Select the plus button, then select Add custom MCP server. Enter the name Agentline NZ and, if you like, a short description. 3. **Enter the Agentline NZ MCP URL.** Under Connection, enter https://agentline.nz/mcp as the server's HTTPS MCP endpoint. 4. **Choose OAuth.** Set authentication to OAuth. Agentline NZ signs you in with an email link, so there's no password or client secret to enter. 5. **Accept the warning and create the plugin.** Review the risk warning, tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin. Check the list of Agentline NZ tools ChatGPT discovered. 6. **Install it and sign in to Agentline NZ.** Install the plugin, then sign in to Agentline NZ with the email link and approve access. Untick send if you want ChatGPT to have read-only access. 7. **Use it in a chat.** In the prompt box, type @ and select Agentline NZ. Selection applies to one message, so @mention it again when a follow-up needs it. ## Give your Dots access Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents inside ChatGPT. They share plugin connections with ChatGPT, so you add Agentline NZ once (steps above) and then: 1. Open your Dot's profile and go to **Customize โ†’ Plugins**. 2. Turn on **Agentline NZ**. 3. Give the Dot a standing job, for example: "Each morning, check my Agentline NZ inbox and tell me about anything from my landlord or my kids' school." OpenAI offers Dots on Pro outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK (so New Zealand is included), on Business Premium, and as a beta on Enterprise and Edu that an admin turns on. On Pro, a Dot can read through custom MCP servers but not send; sending needs a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace. OpenAI's own Dots texting beta is a different feature, limited to Pro users in the US.
