# How to give Grok Bot a phone number, text and email in New Zealand

**Short answer:** Grok Bot, xAI's always-on agent, supports custom remote MCP servers over public HTTPS, so you can give it a New Zealand 028 number, two-way SMS and an email inbox by connecting it to Agentline NZ at https://agentline.nz/mcp and signing in. xAI doesn't document a settings form for custom servers; Cursor staff say to tell your Bot "Add this MCP server: https://agentline.nz/mcp", and it walks you through sign-in.

## Before you start

- An Agentline NZ account. Start free with an email inbox (no card), or take a 7-day trial of Starter or Pro to get a number.
- Your 028 number is set up within a few days of signup. Your email inbox works straight away.
- Grok Bot, which xAI includes with every paid individual Cursor plan and Cursor Teams, or with a linked SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus or SuperGrok Heavy subscription.

## Steps

1. **Ask your Bot to add the server.** In a chat with your Grok Bot, say: Add this MCP server: https://agentline.nz/mcp

2. **Sign in to Agentline NZ.** Follow the Bot's prompt to authenticate in your browser. Sign in with your Agentline NZ email link and approve access.

3. **Check it in Connect apps.** Open Connect apps from the sidebar and choose Your plugins to confirm Agentline NZ is installed. Installed connectors are account-wide, so all your Bots can use it.

4. **Attach it to a task.** In chat, type @ and attach the Agentline NZ connector, then give the Bot its job.

## Grok on grok.com

The Grok chat assistant on grok.com is a separate product with its own Connectors page. xAI's docs say: go to **grok.com/connectors**, click **New Connector**, select **Custom**, enter `https://agentline.nz/mcp` and complete the sign-in.

Once it's connected, ask your assistant:

- "Every weekday at 8am, text me a summary of new emails in my Agentline NZ inbox."
- "Reply to the plumber's text and confirm Thursday at 2pm."

## Good to know

- Grok Bot runs on a shared cloud computer and keeps working when you're away. Keep its jobs to transactional messages; see [What we don't allow](/what-we-dont-allow).
- xAI's docs don't make clear whether Grok Bot can send a static API key header. Use the OAuth sign-in.
- On teams, Cursor's connector policy applies, and only Enterprise has an MCP allowlist.
- Standard NZ mobile numbers only (020–029). No landlines, short codes, premium or international numbers.

No. Grok Bot is xAI's persistent agent product with its own desktop and mobile apps, running on Cursor infrastructure. Grok on grok.com is the chat assistant, which has its own Connectors page.
