# Why does my text say sent instead of delivered?

**Short answer:** The carrier doesn't provide delivery receipts, so a sent SMS shows as sent, not delivered. Sent means the carrier accepted the message; the only way to confirm someone got it is a reply.

- Ask for a reply in the text, for example "Reply YES to confirm."
- Have your agent check `list_messages` for the reply.
