# Connect OpenClaw to Agentline NZ with an API key

**Short answer:** Add an agentline entry under mcp.servers in OpenClaw's config with url https://agentline.nz/mcp, transport streamable-http and an Authorization header of Bearer ${AGENTLINE_KEY}, then check it with openclaw mcp doctor agentline --probe. This suits always-on, unattended OpenClaw agents; for a personal setup with OAuth sign-in, follow the OpenClaw guide instead.

## Before you start

- An Agentline NZ API key from Dashboard → API keys, available to the Gateway as AGENTLINE_KEY. Start free with an email inbox (no card), or take a 7-day trial of Starter or Pro to get a number.
- Your 028 number is set up within a few days of signup. Your email inbox works straight away.

## Steps

1. **Stop the Gateway.** OpenClaw's docs say changes to saved servers need the local Gateway stopped.

2. **Add Agentline NZ to the config.** Add this to openclaw.json. If you leave out transport, OpenClaw assumes SSE, so set it.

3. **Check it.** Run openclaw mcp doctor agentline --probe. It also warns if a header holds a literal secret instead of a variable.

4. **Start the Gateway.** Start the Gateway again and ask your agent: What's my Agentline NZ number?

## Good to know

- If you also set auth to oauth, OpenClaw ignores static Authorization headers.
- OpenClaw's openclaw mcp commands don't read mcporter's config. Configure Agentline NZ in mcp.servers.
- requestTimeoutMs of 60000 leaves room for wait_for_code, which waits up to 55 seconds.
- Transactional and assistant messages only: replies, bookings, confirmations, reminders people asked for, and codes.
